About the Research Program

Rymax: Rymax-One Quantum Optimizer

The Rymax-One Quantum Optimizer project, funded by the BMBF aims to develop a quantum computer based on neutral ytterbium atoms. The ytterbium atoms in Rydberg states can be entangled and will follow the Quantum Annealing principle towards the goal of a quantum advantage. The consortium aims to develop a demonstrator that can be integrated into a high-performance computing environment, solving optimization problems which cannot be solved with classical computers. Menlo Systems will be responsible for developing a large part of the laser system, delivering sub-Hertz linewidths to all relevant atomic lines of neutral ytterbium from a cavity-stabilized laser via the frequency comb.
