To strengthen our team at our main location in Planegg-Martinsried near Munich, we are now looking for a

Doctoral candidate (m/f/d) on the development of optical clocks

Your tasks

    • Enrolment at a partner university (Humboldt-University Berlin, Group for Integrated Quantum Sensors) as a doctoral candidate
    • Performing a feasibility study and proof of concept experiments on the Rb clock transition on a breadboard model
    • Development of a compact optical clock based on hot Rb vapor, from system design to full characterization
    • Close collaboration and exchange with the consortium partners and multiple extended stays at partner institutions
    • Attendance of multiple workshops, schools, and meetings at various locations in Europe

    Your profile

    • Master’s degree in physics (or equivalent)
    • Strong interest in atomic physics, laser technology, and optical clocks
    • Experience in designing optical experiments and handling of optoelectronic equipment is advantageous
    • Mobility within Europe
    • Fluent in English (B2 or higher preferred)
    • Must not have resided in Germany for more than 12 months within the last 3 years before hiring
