Job Description

The Purchaser will be working with internal manufacturing units to establish lead times and purchase products. Responsibilities of the purchasing position will include project work to reduce costs and improve processes as well as on ongoing vendor evaluations in accordance to ISO 9001 requirements. The candidate may travel to local vendor facilities to evaluate the quality of products purchased and perform vendor audits as required. The Purchaser reports to the head of purchasing.

Knowledge & Skill Requirements:

  • Ability to build and manage all aspects of vendor relationships
  • Knowledge of transaction processing
  • Understanding of safety stock, forecasting, and made to order products
  • Understanding of how a product moves through an ERP system
  • Ability to distribute orders in a timely manner
  • Knowledge and understanding of BOMs and how they impact the forecast and purchase requirements
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to interact with individuals at all levels of an organization

Experience and Education Requirements:

  • Minimum of two years' experience as purchaser in a manufacturing environment
  • Bachelor's degree or smiliar education level
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and ERP skills
  • Experience working both independently and with a team in an efficient and effective manner
  • Fluent in German and English
