August 2005: Measurement of Optical Standard
In collaboration with the Max-Planck-Institute of Quantum Optics we have successfully measured an Acetylene stabilized laser to be used as optical reference in the laboratories of our customers. For the measurements we have used one of our continuously operating FC1500 systems installed at the Max-Planck-Institute.

Prof. Herbert Walther watching the game MPQ team with Prof. Cirac and Prof. Krausz, final score 6:5 for MPQ.

July 2005: Fiber Comb System FC1500 now available with Option “Visible”
First systems installed at customers side. With the option “Visible” for the FC1500, the range of wavelengths that can be measured has been extended into the visible part of the spectrum. For the first time, one single frequency comb system allows measurements in the NIR and visible part of the spectrum in parallel.

Feb 2005: Record breaking 150mW average power directly out of femtosecond Er:fiber laser
Together with our collaborators at the Max-Planck-Institute of Quantum Optics we were able to increase the average output out of the Er:oscillators to 150mW. Previously, these power levels could only be achieved by combining the fiber lasers with additional EDFA amplifiers.

Feb 2005: First long time comparison of two fiber based frequency comb systems
At the Physikalische Bundesanstalt in Braunschweig (PTB) we have made the first long time comparison of the frequency comb system from the PTB with one from Menlo Systems and Max-Planck-Institute of Quantum Optics. We found agreement in the frequency measurements on the 10E-16 level.
